I am winterizing my 2011 sea-ray 8.2 mag with a closed cooling system. I have winterized quite a few boats in the past with no problem but this boat has some things i want to be sure about. I have checked the service manuals but cant seem to find some of the information i am looking for.
This boat is equipped with the air actuated drain system. Is using this system adequate for winterization? My boat has catalysts, there don't seem to be any drains on the manifolds although i can drain them by removing the hoses. The heat exchanger i would think also needs to be drained. Is this done with the air actuated process as well? I also uncertain about the fuel cooler?
Second issue is the fuel system. In the past i have filled the fuel separator with fuel/oil mix and ran that through although im not sure this would be possible with the coolfuel system.
Im sure there is documentation on this im just not sure where to find it

I believe the 8.2 with CAT exhaust is a ‘half’ closed cooling system (engine block only). The exhaust is raw water cooled. You probably want to get the complete service manual for the engine, if you only have the operator’s manual.

The short answer is yes the air actuated system is supposed to clear water out of the raw water side of the engine.

You still may want to check the coolant strength of the closed cooling, and then run the -100 PG based antifreeze through the raw water side. Then use the air actuated system.

I have the 2016 6.2 engines with a similar air actuated system. I have yet to use it, instead I just rely on the -100 AF and drain at the distribution housing.
