Just wondering if anyone knows the voltage my motor needs to start. I have a voltage monitor and frequently sit on a sand bar all day with radio going.. Voltage never gets that low but i was wondering how much juice my engine actually needs to turn over, thanks

you can have 12 volts but still have a drained battery, it takes volts plus AMPs, so you can not really tell anything from your volt meter, they do make battery gauges that measure amps and tell you how charged your battery is. many people use a second battery for radios and other things, probably your best bet. my guess is that you will need around 400 cranking AMPs at 12 volts to properly turn your engine over, but thats just a guess

as I said they do make an amp meter that reads out battery charge level, but you could get a second battery for about the same price. Or you can use the ole hope-it-cranks method, it works most of the time.

Take your Battery to a Automotive store and they will test it for you for FREE.
