Looking for a new boat, narrowed it down to either the glastron GLS 215 or the Rinker captiva 216 BR. Both of these boats give the most amount of room inside the cockpit, easy access from the swim platform and the best price compared to regal or chapparal.

I am interested in performance so i will be going with the Merc or volvo 300 hp. According to boattest.com the rinker can reach 48mph with the 4.3 engine while the glastron can reach only 50 with the 5.7 (270hp), looking at these numbers, the rinker with the 300hp merc or volvo should reach speeds at or above 60mph. Do you think that is the case? What speeds do you think the Glastron will reach with the bigger engine?

In terms of ride quality can anyone comment on how either of them ride in choppy waters say 1-2 ft waves?

Also, im wondering about quality of these boats, i know they are on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to price and looking at a searay, regal or chapparal the fit and finish and detail on these doesn't compare to the glastron or rinker but im ok with that, the look good to me. Im wondering more about the quality, build, dependability, etc.

I havnt owned a new boat since 1989, i just sold that one and am excited for this new boat.

Any help from anyone about any of these topics would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Which dealer is closer to you for service and nicer to work with, IMO i like the rinker, I tested a 08 rinker 230 open bow with the merc 350 mag engine (300hp) and it would to mid fifties with stock prop.. Fast enough imo.... But I couldnt affford the boat at then time, but that will be my next one.

Remember, it takes alot more power to go a little bit faster. I looked at a GT205 FS with the 350 5.7 and it would do right around 55.

I'd agree with Matt - go with the one who has local service. If both do, then go for a test drive on both and see which suits you better. Both are beauties, though I love the lines on Glastron's.
