Hi there everybody! I just bought a 2012 four winns and it had the 270hp 5.0L mpi motor non-catalytic. now the sales man said it was a 305 (which i also thought as volvo uses chevy's blocks).

But when i was on volvo's website it said that the non-catalytic motors were 302ci and the catalytic models were 305ci, at first i thought maybe it was a ford 302ci but after further reading online i discovered that chevy made a 302 from 67-69 for the camaro Z28. just wondering if thats really a chevy or a ford? :)

What engine do you have? 5.0GXiE, 5.0GXiCE...?

Also can you post the link to the website page you are referring to?

Like this one....:

I am pretty sure cat and non-cat engines are both GM 5.0L/305CID. Not cost effective to have two separate engine lines like that. Plus the Z28 302CID was a high-revver with a power band not really fitting for a pleasure boat.

But I am willing to be schooled :)

If the distributer is in the front by the pulleys it's a Ford, If it's in the rear by the bellhousing it's a Chevy.
