Hello. New here and looking for some help. First a little history: 2013 Bayliner 210 Deck Boat
During use 2 weeks ago I noticed the voltmeter indicating around 12 volts. Finished the day with no other issues. 3 days later boat started normally but after 10 minutes of cruising would not restart. I heard the beep from the engine alert but no crank. After several attempts, by some miracle I got it started and headed back to the dock. I did not shut the engine off, but I grabbed a jump pack out of my truck. After running for maybe 40 minutes, I shut the engine off and needed the jump pack to restart it. Voltmeter still indicated just under 12 volts even at WOT. Back to the dock and done for the day.
Went back to the boat with a meter. Jumped the engine once again.Checked battery voltage and it was around 11.8 volts. Checked alternator output and observed battery voltage at the terminal. I only ran the engine for about 3 minutes. Alternator was so hot I could not touch it, but I could rest my hand on the oil filter and exhaust manifold. Removed battery, brought it home and charged it.
Changed alternator and reinstalled charged battery.
Now here is where it gets strange...when I turn the ignition on, the engine alert sounds a very short and faint beep, and the trim indicator spikes to full up. Trim switches oh the throttle and engine do not work. in fact, I press the trim switch on the throttle, I the trim indicator needle drops and I see my fuel gage come alive!
I've checked all fuses on the boat and motor as well as the fuseable links. All are good.
When I turn the key to the start position I get nothing. Not even a click.
I took the battery to get tested and was told it was bad. Installed a new battery and I get the same results.
It seems I may have a short somewhere, but no fuses are blown. It's really strange how I now have a completely different problem. Bad trim pump motor? Bad trim limit switch? Hoping I didn't fry something like the engine computer.
Continuing to troubleshoot, but would appreciate any help.
Thanks
