2013 merc 50 4 stroke

I live in Texas, just north of Dallas. I am not a softy but temps do get cold and it does freeze.I always leave my prop down when stored,but am worried about freezing temps effecting my L/U. I love to fish 365. Am I ok as long as I store L/U down as far as cracking my L/U? Thanks.

Positioning an outboard motor for storage.
Store the outboard in an upright vertical position to allow water to drain out of outboard.

A quick check for water in the LU should be done if the temp is getting near freezing, to be safe. There is always a chance that a seal is leaking and this is a good way to get any trouble fixed before more costly repairs are needed. JMO
