First time I have owned these updated engines. They run great but I feel they bang into gear?? Other O/B I have run seem to be quieter when changing gears. I have the engine Idle down to 600 RPM It seem they just hit hard when changing. Is this normal for fly by wire controls?

There should be no difference in the servo shifting the motor into gear and it being done manually by an operator. In both cases it should be swift and certain.

Is this your first four stroke? They are so much quieter than two strokes that noises which used to be masked by the sound of the motor are now being heard.

Yamaha does offer a propeller with a different hub that can mitigate the noise from the motor being shifted into gear. Known as SDS for Shift Dampening System.

Don't understand your comments about the motor being idled down. The idle is computer controlled and not adjustable.
