20hp Evinrude

Model number on the motor is E20ECE, the carb was replaced with a 35hp and powers a 13.6 ft fiberglass Boston Whaler style boat. He claims the boat will really move and sips fuel. I haven't had the boat in water yet and have only started it for several seconds three or four times to make sure the battery isn't dead. I just have a couple of preventive maintenace questions.<br /><br />Is this motor equipped with an alternator and how do I check the oil in the lower unit?

I cant say for certain but that engine number should mean this motor has electric start?If I am right it should also have charging capacity and you will know by looking at the RH side of the engine looking from the prop side.If it has charging ability you will see a black connection block just below the alternator with a lot of wiring connected to it.You will also need a loom for the engine if you intend to utilise the charging system.
