i have a older 20hp mercury motor and i havent used the boat in over a year. I was gonna take it out the other day and see if it still ran since it ran good when we parked it. I tried pulling it in the yard and it wouldnt pull. it was like the motor was locked up. after looking it all over and figuring out what the problem was it was the lower unit was stuck. first thing i did was took out the drain plugs and there was no oil in the lower unit. we went to fill it up and oil come out the vent holes. the motor was tilted up so water could set in the prop. I figured it could have gotten water in there froze up and cracked something or maybe just rotted out a seal and leaked water into the lower unit. im gonna take it apart next weekend and i was just wanting to get some ideas if it could be a seal or if the lower unit is probally no good.
