20w-50???

Last year I did some research and chose to not go with the Mercruiser oil.

A year later and I have no idea what weight oil i decided to use.

I happen to have 6 quarts of 20w-50 that I have no use for. Is it an acceptable grade?

I did a few searches and it seemed that 15w-40 was more popular.

Unless your running in ice water you will be fine. Search... oil ... threads. You can get any and every answer you can possibly want.. Its the most asked about, argued about, discussed topic in the engine world.
