Hello, I have a 2008 21' seaboss bay boat with murcury optimax 150. it's a great boat for Florida and can kind of do it all. I take it offshore 20-30 miles with no problems except for getting a little bit wet sometimes.

I'm considering taking a temp assignment in San Diego for 3 months and was wondering if this boat would be trouble off shore in the pac ocean. I know it's a matter of paying attention and checking the weather reports where ever you are but the swells there can be massive. Would this boat be ok to stay close to shore or just out of the question offshore in CA?

Thanks for the help and I hope to get some excellent advice.

Re: 21' bay boat question

So long as you have a bit of skill, the swell is not that big a deal. I've seen 16' Bayliners operated successfully in fairly nasty 8' swell off SD. Heck of a lot rather take my chances with a 21' bay boat than a Bayliner!!!!

I would be more worried about getting caught in fog than the swell.
