I will be doing sea trials in the spring with my CVX18. I haven't had it out since I bought her this fall. The boat came with a 21P stainless prop. I am assuming this a good prop for out of the hole but not for top end speed. Is this what I should expect? Do you think over revving will be an issue? Your thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

A lot depends on your gear ratio. It'll probably be pretty close though but as you mentioned, testing will tell.

Thanks D,

I'm not sure if it's the original prop. Time will tell!

Ayuh,... I'm Sure it ain't the Original prop,...
It's 30 years old, 'n the original was aluminum...

It probably is the appropriate prop for that combo though...

Thanks Bondo. I know I will be experimenting come spring. New adventure for me, never had an I/O before. The motor runs sweet, about 640 hours total. I got it running very well before I winterized. New dizzy cap and rotor, plugs, rebuilt the quadrajet, new fuel pump and fresh oil/filter. I pulled the lower unit, oil was clean and replaced the water pump. No issues with torn or missing blades. Engine maintains about 160 degrees warmed up at idle. Smooth 750 RPM at idle. I want to change the thermostat as well. Will wait until the spring.
