OMC was a manufacturer until they went under about 1998.

Volvo Penta is one company. Some people shorten the name to Volvo, but they are all Volvo Penta. Volvo Penta is the marine division of the Volvo company.

OMC and Volvo Penta had a partnership from 93-98 (until OMC went bankrupt). They made SX drives together. When OMC went bankrupt, Volvo ended up with all of the SX patents and they continue making them.

Almost all drive manufacturers have used different car engines. Now, almost all are GM engines (gas), but Ford was being used up until about 97.

Hope that clears up some of the confusion.
