I just back from 12 days of pure excellence in Eagle River, WI. The boat, 120 hp white leg, performed flawlessly. I even had to tow a glasser  with a nearly new Volvo drive back to his pier because it just "died." It was an injected motor so I was of little help other than being a tow service. Anyways, my boat is sooooooo slowwwwwww. Unloaded with 2 adults nets 28 gps mph. 2 adults with fishing gear is like molasses! I towed a tube with my 120 lb son on the tube and it was doable but little else. I'm thinking a 115 outboard would make a world of difference. I'm open to suggestions. I'd love a four stroke but that's just not in the picture. I'm leaning towards a yamaha outboard in the 115-175 range. I'm really not looking for an i/o set up unless you can really sell me on it, but you better be good! The deck space I can pick up with an o/b and bracket will be tremendous. I realize my fuel costs will go up, but I really don't travel far with the boat where that will be an issue. I used 12 gallons for the 12 days I was up there with the current set-up. The 80lb minn-kota gets most of the use since the boat is mainly used for fishing. Oh, by the way there was a green mariner up there in the 20' range. Are you from the site???

Re: 22' Islander/center console

My 22' Holiday came with a 175 Evinrude. I have not had it on the water yet (restoration is in the works), but the PO told me that it would go 40+ mph fully loaded, but he never really pushed it as it was a fishing boat for Erie. My thought is that it would do better than 45-50 mph, as I am stripping it down to the bare essentials.

Do you have any pics of the interior of your boat? I am going the center console route with my boat and would love to see how you have it set up.

Ummm, I hate to be the "iboat police" but I'm pretty sure the rule clearly states..."PICS or it DID NOT happen".

Sorry, you'll need to pay a fine equal to, but no less than, a beer for every member here. Don't kill the messenger.... I don't make the rules.
