Hey everyone.. I just purchased a 1998 22' Crest pontoon with a 120 Force by Mercury outboard. I am just curious as to the type of miles per gallon you can get out of something like this at a 13-15 mph cruising speed. Top speed is abought 25 at WOT. We have run it on the local lake twice, but at all types of different speeds so I really don't have an idea of the range I can get when just cruising. I know this is hard to determine via messege board, but just looking for some different responses to see what everyone else is getting. I am planning a river trip (slow moving river) in two weeks and would just like to be able to kinda sorta figure my fuel costs. Thanks in advance,
Doug

Hard to say, but it shouldn't use much fuel at cruising speed. You may also want to check your rpm's and prop size as I think you should be getting a few more mph out of it.
I have a 22ft with 60hp and get 21 on my GPS.

I have a 90 horse Merc on a 21 foot triton.. If we are just running to a certain point in the lake at WOT,(5200 rpm) it will use 7-8 gallons per hour.. Last weekend we done some tubeing for about 5 hours with the boat loaded and not running WOT.. It used 15.9 gallon.. As stated before you should be getting more MPH with your.. With just me and the wife we get 27-28 mph with the GPS..

I just checked and I have a 15 pitch Power Tech S/S prop. I haven't checked this thing on a GPS so I need to do that to see how accurate the speedometer is.

I have a 1998 Crest II DL 22' with a 2002 90hp 2 stroke mercury. Just installed a 15" pontoon stainless prop this weekend. WOT was 5500 rpm's, speed on GPS was 21 mph with just my wife and I in the boat. Not sure how much fuel it uses, but it sure seems to like it. I think I might have some water in my pontoons (sits real low in the back) but I can't seem to find any drains on the bottom. Do you have any drains in your 'toons?

Also, my boat is rated for 90hp max? What is yours rated for?

I worry about smiles per gallon, I try not to think about MPG, because it cuts down on the SPG.
