Re: 225 evinrude hours

best guess is with proper service the motor is still young at 600hrs but neglected at 600hrs it could be ready to scrap

I agree. 600 hours could mean it's broke-in or broken.

As far as inchagability of parts it depends on what years the two motors are. If they're both 3.0 liter loopers don't expect to see a huge difference.

What do you mean the compression test is 99%???

what I mean by 99%compression test is the compression test was done on all cylinders compression on all cylinders with in spec ps what is concidered proper service give example would it be a sound buy if maintenance was performed properly anything i would be able to check before buying thanks again for your advice

Re: 225 evinrude hours

not too sure if this is any guide but I have engines with over 2,300 hours on them and I replace the water pumps every 2 years (do it my self) grease every thing I can see with OMC triple gaurde grease, spray all motor and bits and pieces with WD40, keep paint work polished and get a "service" every year at a reputable dealer and even with all those hours they still look newish and never had a major drama (hope they don't blow up next time out)
