I've got a 1993 225 oceanrunner. i had recently posted about a core plug that fell out of the throttle body, and that fixed the idle issues after punching in a new one, but i still have a bit of power loss. now i only get 38 mph instead of 43, and it hesitates when carbs aren't loaded up. i did take off one cylinder plug wire to see if it wasn't firing, but it stalled. will test spark all around today, but should it have stalled running on 5 cylinders? i'm guessing it won't idle on 4 cylinders, but 5? maybe another cylinder isn't firing?

Yes it's 95-105 on all cylinders. I have found a plugged throttle body with what looks like a zip tie end in it. bizarre, as i have no idea how that got in there as it ran perfectly for 11 years. gonna put it back together, synch n link and see if that was it. do you know if that would effect mid-high speed running? it was stalling at mid speed (3500+ rpm) and was hard to get re-started. had to limp home hitting the primer key. new mechanical fuel pumps.... portable tank. runs the same as before .

Mechanical Fuel Pumps?

Spark, fuel, compression, at the correct time, and in the correct amounts are needed. At least one of these is not there

by mechanical i mean the dual aftermarket mastertech ones that replace the vro/oms pump. Ordered a CDI spark tester. hopefully that will lead me somewhere. coil resistance on all 6 is good, but don't know what the spark looks like yet.
