OK I am changing my short block (97, 225) to a bored out 87, 225. I have the complete 87, 225 motor as spare parts. My question is this, I am putting boysen reeds in the motor. It says to open up the idle screw two more full rounds per carb for the Boysen reeds. I want to put the fixed jet carbs off of the 225, 87 model. How much bigger should I open the fixed jets to start with? I am 700 feet above sea level if that helps. Thanks

Re: 225 Johnson

Jets typically get smaller with altitude increases, not bigger. 2500' above MSL is usually where it makes a real difference.
