225 looper powerhead swap

Have a 1994 225 looper with a bad crank. I am replacing the powerhead with a 1990 year Question about the cooling system. The 1994 "pees" out the center of the mid section and the 1990 has a hose from the right t-stat housing to a valve on the shift linkage and then out the cowling. As well as a small fitting in the top of the left hand side of the block.
Can I just use the t-stat covers and bypass hose off the 1994 engine and do away with the valve on the shift linkage?
