i have a 1993 225 oceanrunner and it idles fine (1000 rpm) when i shift into gear it sometimes just dies---i have replaced the neutral cutoff switch and it stil does it. When the switch is hit it rocks is that suposed to happen or is it supposed to sit still??? someone suggested turning up my idle but my gear case is clunking when i stick in rev now if i go up any higher i think i will blow it totally!! anyone have any insight on this problem????

idling at 100 is not good should be down 800-850 in neutral 700 in gear. start with the basics, check spark, and compression all cylinders. give us the numbers.

yes, it is just an interupt switch, it simply slows the RPM for a second while you shift.

that is if you are talking about the switch that is under the shift arm on the motor not on the control box.
