225 Verado Idles at 3000 rpm, will not shift

i have a 225 4 stroke Verado OB, when i go to start motor, engine revs to 3000 rpm, alarm is sounding and will not idle down. idle is to fast to switch into forward /rev. called dealer he said operate throttle when engine is off, full both ways. didnt change anything... any ideas?

What year? If your engine has a 3 carb star sticker on it has it had the reflash done by Verado certified dealership. This fixes the sensor(s) that was sending false Guardian signals. Covered under warranty

The year is 2006, i bought it last year, not sure if its has been reflashed, i have called a local dealer for help, will see them next week, but he didnt say anything about a warranty recall.

Ask them to refer to Service Bulletin No. 2007-03

Here is the problem they were experiencing effects USA 0T980000 through 1B206109 and possibly USA 1B206110 through 1B460633

Also ask them if the FSM Float switch affects your model.
