Ok I know this question has been asked 1000 times but I am about to redeck my 24 ft pontoon. I am trying to decide between the marine plywood, alumideck , or just a regular wood deck. See the attached pictures. I would like to know what you think of this guy restoration. How long do you think it will last and how does the weight and cost compared to the traditional methods. He said he used Thompson water seat to coat the boards.

Don't know much about Alumideck but it sounds great. Not sure how it compares cost-wise to marine plywood. Marine plywood would be my choice. Not a fan of the resto you showed. Looks heavy and Thompson's is basically just colored wax. Totally worthless.

I would also go with marine plywood.

Five years ago, I got cheap and painted regular exterior grade plywood with two coats of enamel (at the rear of the boat.) The rest of my boat is decked with the original marine plywood that's okay @ 26 years old. I need to replace the rotted section.

If you wanted to get fancy, you could put an elastomeric coating on both sides--see AmesResearch.com. It can be ordered through any Ace Hardware store.

What do you think of the idea of using the advantech plywood and then cover it with the light grey herculiner. This would eliminate the need for carpet and may it easy to washout. Let me know what you think. I know of a marina that used advantech for there entire dock and it is still holding strong for 10 years without any coating what so ever.
