We sorry my images from start to this point have been mysteriously deleted from my pc. Anyway picked up this pontoon about 4-5 months ago. It was floating in a boat slip and owner and I ran it on the lake. The Carpet was molded and trashed all the console and seating frame was rotten but it floate and the 48hp johnson ran out fine. He said it always stayed in the slip unless they has a lot of company then they would take it out. First I stripped old seats, console and removed the railings. Once that was complete I started to strip the carpet out. To my surprise I found a aluminum deck NO PLYWOOD. WOOHOO! Now I was happy. Right now I have recarpeted the flooring, re installed the railing and installed a new console. Also I reskinned the railing panels yesterday. Last week I removed the 48hp johnson and added a 85 hp evinrude. This toons rated for 125hp so 85hp seemed a decent option.
Next week I will be installing the new seats and biminitop and she will be ready for the initial test run.

Only issue I am having is getting the tarnish off the pontoons I ordered a gal of pontoon cleaner used as described however it did not help much if any at all. Any suggestions in that area to remove bad tarnish is appreciated

I would try Fruehauf Trailers or a heavy truck repair place. They sell an acid made for cleaning tanks and aluminum trailers. I have used it on aluminum, works great. It will get about anything off. Wear goggles and a respirator....its very corrosive.

Search the threads for "Sharkhide" it is an aluminium cleaner. The owner of the company reads this board too. There was another guy who used it on a pretty heavily oxidized aluminum boat and seemed happy with the results.
