I am looking for a new (to me) hull to put my outboard / bracket setup on. I am looking at a 24' islander and wanted to know how much wider it is than the 22' version. My Google skills have not turned up anything for sure mostly because there are so many "islanders" out there. Seems like every brand made and islander of some sort lol. Where is a good place to find this Information? Thanks -John

the 22ft V5 hulls and the islander "V" named hulls of the 80's(Isl 220V, Isl 221V, Isl 261V ect )had 94-96" beams...

For what it is worth my 72 Mark IV which is 24.75 feet long has a beam in the cockpit area of 92 inches. I think it my be a little wider in the cabin area but really can't measure it.image.jpg

My 1983 22' is exactly 96" from rub rail to rub rail at the outer most point.

Thanks air shot. And everybody else that replied. I still cannot find the beam of a 24 footer. Is anybody willing to measure for me? Or does anybody know for a fact that it is the same? My "Google foo" is failing me. Thanks -John

If they did, it was too small for me to read. The brochures seem to be more of a sales ad kind of thing and not so much of a detailed technical thing.

Hmmmmmm....

Are we sure a 24' Islander existed? I don't seem to remember seeing such an animal eh?

You do have the 22' and the 26' though. Here's some spec info:

Either way, the 22 footer is 90"/96" (depending on the model) and the 26 footer is 96".

Hey, we need some photos of what you are looking at ok!:becky:

Here is a link to the only photo I can find of the boat. The cl posting expired and it had more pictures. I am an long haul truck driver and have not seen the boat yet. I will be home in 2 weeks and will post my own pictures when I go to see it.

I think I've seen that ad before. Tough to tell for sure if that's the 22 or the 26 without perspective but I think that might be the 22.

Important questions: Asking price and driveline? What does he want and what's it got?

Re: 24' islander beam?

thats definetaly NOT a 26 footer...Id lean closer to 22 than 24...its a new "V" hull so it will have the wide beam...94 OR 96 "

id bet its the 221V Islander

Re: 24' islander beam?

It has a mercruiser 488. which is another name for the dreaded 470. However I will be removing that and putting the bracket and outboard from my current islander on it. We use the boat to stay 4 or 5 days at a time on put-in-bay and would like a little more room. Also, my current islander (a 22') is shedding rivets almost every time I take her out and she needs a complete rebuild including foam removal. He is asking 2500 with a good looking double axle trailer and working drive train. He claims that the interior has been rebuilt and is nearly new with very little use.

Re: 24' islander beam?

Thanks for the answers on the beam, I was going to have guideons welded onto my trailer for the 22' but I am going to wait until I actually know for sure which hull I am going to end up with.

Re: 24' islander beam?

Yah, $2500 is a little spendy considering it's a 22 footer with the 470 in it.

Now if it were the ultra rare 26 footer, all bets are off! Heck, a fella might even be dum enough to trade a completely restored to new condition boat worth about $6-$7 K for something like that!

Re: 24' islander beam?

So is 6k really a fair number for a 26'? I was thinking of going to take a look at the "tazmanian" boat in the cl thread... the stringer doesn't matter much to me because I already have an outboard setup to bolt onto it.

And how badly you want a 26' ;) we don't see very many around. Personally, I don't think I would pay that much unless it was water ready, instead get a slightly more common 24' or 25' Chief for under $2000.
