I am reconnecting my two batteries to a three bank charger. One Bank is for the main motor and the other two banks for my trolling motor batteries. I thought I had it hooked up correctly but then I heard a slight sizzling noise from the batteries. Does anyone have pictures of their wiring in their boat with a similar system?

My guess is you don't have a charger designed to charge a 12/24 volt setup.

Let see if bruceb58 will assist

What battery charger are you using?

Most newer chargers have isolated banks which means the negative connections for each bank are not electrically common to each other so you can connect each bank to batteries in series without disconnecting the series connection.

It's a Go Charge recreational series. 18amp (6 amp) per bank. I reconnected it and it did the same. The red charge lights lit and after 2 minutes they went green showing charged.

Should be no problem. In the literature outside the manual it states, 12V/24V/36V
http://www.dualpro.com/wp-content/up...-08-102812.pdf

Unlike systems that utilize one large charger to attempt to charge
multiple batteries, your system
utilizes a totally independent battery charger for each battery.

Maybe the sizzling was just some gassing of the batteries.

Unplug the charger and wait 20 minutes to let the surface charge dissiate. Measure the voltage across each battery and make sure each is 12.6V or so.

Funny, my batteries are gassy after hibernating all winter.

Someone else told me that will happen.

You weren't keeping them topped off all winter? I keep my charger on all the time so they don't get discharged at all.

Your charger is made to keep them charged 24/7

I had them on a 2amp charger all winter. This is probably why it only did this for about two minutes. I used them all weekend and they only drained about 1/4. I will plug in charger again and see what happens next.

Dump that 2A charger and use the dualpro that you have. It is designed to be on 24/7.
