Hello this is my first post. Have read the boards for 6 months and have learned a lot. My question is on carb rebuilding. First my Evinrude is a 1975 model 25502B electric start.

The next question is in the low speed or Idel jet is a plastic bushing. How do you get that bushing in. Have read the FAQ but no mention is made of it. The old bushing is missing in this motor and it runs badly. Good compression 100 and 105 psi top and bottom. Good spark, Fuel getting to carb, new points condensers and plugs but runs really ruff. That is the only thing that I can find that is missing on motor. A air leak at that point that on the carb.

Can any one help me out with this problem? Have a new one but how to get the thing in?

Thank you in advance for your help!

You are correct, if the bushing is worn, it will suck air past it.

Are you sure there isn't one already in there? They are almost impossible to see once in place. You pull it out with a suitable hooked instrument. I've heard some people say that threading a drywall screw into it will work as a puller, sounds reasonable but I've never tried it.

The new one is simply pushed into place with a suitable rod or punch that fits inside the flanged sleeve area.

F.R. There is no plastic bushing in the carb. Strong light you can see brass jet and with a pick probe you hit bare metal. Will turn a brass rod to fit and tap it in to place gentle until seated.
