The usual weights of 1980s 50hp outboards
versus a 2018 25hp Honda outboard.
My 1974 16' three bench Mirrocraft with steering setup on farthest stern bench. I want to put that Honda on this boat.
So, what did 50hp outboards of the 80s weigh. What does this Honda weigh ?
Thanks for the to the point answer.
Regards, TBJR

your good.. Something like the classic 50 Merc weigh's ~250 lbs.. 25hp Honda shows to be about 230 lbs so, exactly the same but with half the output.

Unless your sold on 4 stroke or have the motor. I'd look into a 2cyl 20-35hp OMC manufactured engine.. Light weight, simple but powerful. Going from 20hp to 35hp is carb, intake and some timing changes. You can convert a primer engine to choke, or vice verse as well depending on which carb you use
