I have a 93 Mariner 25 horse (remote) and need a couple of questions answered. On the motor, there is a knob that says to rotate clockwise to start, and pull to prime. The prime part is obvious, what does turning this knob do? Could it have anything to do with idle speed? When the motor is running, and the knob is turned I don't see or hear anything happening. Thanks!

Twist it to the right for high idle. Return it to the left for warm operation. It doesn't always raise the RPMs by much from the factory. There's a screw that snugs up a loop on the lever that you can adjust for more.
