25 hp 1972 sportster water problem?

Hello,fix the carb problem but now when running idle the motor burning hot.Ive have change the impeller and the stat.The old impeller was half gone melted burnout .What do i have to do ? When is on there is alot of white smoke too.Thank you and happy easter..

Most likely you have some impeller parts stuck in the copper pick up tube or other places. You may have to drop the LU and try to back flush the passages to see if you can dislodge some debris.

Oh yes, the white smoke is probably steam...do not run the motor until you have fixed the cooling problem. You should be able to leave your hand on the head for three seconds...if you cannot, it's too hot. Shut her down!

Cant even put hand half a second burn 3 degree.That is what i will do as you said will take out LU and check the copper tube and try to flush the colling system.Not too familiar with the flushing part.?where do i put the hose to flush.Could i take out the stat and flush from there?thank you MAS.

Yes, remove the t-stat and see if you can use your hose to back flush. make sure you drop the LU...otherwise any debris will just end up possibly back in your pump.

check you compression, if you have a blown head gasket in to the cooling system , it will not let the water get up to the head to cool the block.

Compression on both cylinders is 100..Is that ok???
