Having carb problems, rebuilt carb and it stalls at idle. I know that the float should be parallel to the carb gasket surface when carburetor is upside down but where should it fall when held upright......is there a measurement? The stalling may be due to a bad fuel pump but I want to be sure the carb is perfect before I move on. Thanks

Parallel with the gasket is the correct setting. Provided it is free to fall and allow the float valve to open that is all that is required.

In most/all cases replacement float valves have a little clip that clips the needle to the float arm so that it is pulled open when the float drops.

If the pump is defective you will be able to keep it running by pumping the bulb also if there is air being sucked into the fuel line ( at the fuel connector for example)

So if there is air being sucked into the fuel line I would see a leak when the bulb is primed and engine is not running right? I do not see any leaks so I have a new fuel pump on order.

Fixed it, it helps to have the float installed right side up. DANG!
