I HAVE A 1996 25 HP EVINRUDE 3 CYL. W/ ELECTRIC START. AFTER RUNNING THE ENGINE DIES. I CAN RESTART IT WITH THE MANUAL ROPE OR THE KEY. IT WILL DO THIS A NUMBER OF TIMES AND SEEMS TO BE CUTTING OUT A LOWER RPM. I AM ALWAYS ABLE TO RESTART RIGHT AWAY.
I HAVE HAD THE CARBURTORS CLEANED, REPLACED THE STATOR AND DISCONNECTED THE ELECTIC IGNITION AND EMERGENCY KILL SWITCH. BUT IT STILLS DIES.
ANY IDEAS ????
THANKS TUCKER

Sounds like you have a bad ignition coil or powerpack. You could also be overheating. It is also possible that they missed a speck of stuff in the high speed jet. Check your float and make sure it is level with the carb when turned upside down. Does the primer bulb get soft? Do you have to repump the bulb before you start? If so rebuild your fuel pump and/or check for air leaks in your fuel line.
I know this sounds like a lot of stuff to check but without seeing or hearing it this is all I can do.

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CHECK A POWER PAK TO SEE IF THATS THE PROBLEM.

MOTOR RUNS COOL WITH PLENTY OF WATER DISCHARGING. CARBS ARE CLEAN NO PROBLEM RESTARTING, SHOULD RUN ON 2 CYL. IF ONE WAS DIRTY, BUT THE ENGINE JUST DIES, NO SPUTTERING AND RESTARTS AS SOON AS I CAN REACH THE KEY.

Pull all the plugs and turn the engine over. Does spark jump to the block for each cylinder? Check them one at a time. If you are not getting spark to a cylinder then it is the pack or ignition coil whichever you have.
