25 hp evinrude

I have a 25 hp evinrude that i need to find out what year it is so I can do some repairs on. Also need to know the oil to fuel ratio. The seriel # is E25REIE. I understand the seriel # stands for Evinrude 25 hp rope start, electronic ignition, also need to know how to get the starter out, it is locked up. Can't figure out how to remove. Thanx

Your engine is a 1991, altic. That is what the EI means.<br /><br />Your starter may be okay, but locked by the neutral start lock that prevents it being used when the engine is in gear.<br /><br />Take the bonnet off and watch for a pawl to lock the starter when you put her in gear and release when you put her in neutral. It may be misadjusted or broken.<br /><br />Good luck, and welcome to iboats.
