I have a 1980 Mariner 25 H.P. Motor runs fine, just hard to start with out a small shot of carb cleaner. I have removed carb and cleaned it, Compression is good. Any ideas?

I will post serial number online at 4pm eastern time. It has choke with only a wire running from it to choke knob. The choke assembly does work with it.

Starts w/carb cleaner and then runs OK? If so, maybe not pumping primer enough to get carb bowl full?

Old gas?

serial Number 695 S 005579

Primer bulb full and bowl and new fuel.

I have my motor set on remote steer. I have the tilt on the 3rd area from hull instead of straight down. I wonder If I move motor into the straight down position.

It is very bad for the motor to use carb cleaner to start a motor.

Does any one have any more ideas. Choke works. Full in carb bowl and filter and lines full of fuel. But motor will not start without a shot of carb cleaner. I don't wanna use it. I have cleaned carbs inside and out.
