Hey all,
I just rebuilt a carb (complete) on a 1986 25 HP (s/n A712403). It starts and runs, but to get it to idle and not stall, I had to adjust the throttle rod way past the idle detent (maybe the idle wire is bent?). It now idles at ~ 600 rpm. When I crank it WOT in fwd gear, it wants to die most times and you can see it lose fuel (spray) in the carb. If you hold the electric choke it will pick it up again. Then after running WOT for a minute, it loses fuel again...cranking it from WOT to idle several times in a row seems to make it run fine again...until the next time it loses fuel. I put a complete carb kit in (fuel pump/primer/needle/float). To me it almost seems like the float or needle is sticking? Or maybe I have to adjust the float tabs? Here's the carb: http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/parts/274_90.cfm
