25 Johnson Throttle Problem?

Engine ran fine for about 15-20 minutes, half and full throttle, then died. Now, engine starts just fine. Idle is ok but when I advance the tiller handle the engine starts to stall. I have to pull out the choke to keep it running but even that that is no guarantee. Engine was tuned about 4 months ago (plugs etc). I had some carburator cleaner in the boat, tried that, didn't work.

Re: 25 Johnson Throttle Problem?

Sounds like you have a classic carb prob. With the choke on or on half more fuel is drawn in. Get an OEM kit with a new float and clean her out real good with carb cleaner and compressed air. Just spraying carb cleaner in the carb won't clean all the junk out, a good soaking does the trick. If you don't wanna soak it get some spray cleaner spray it in every little orfice and then blow it out with compressed air. Should help a ton.
