25 jonny wont idle

1978 25 johnson carb clean, new plugs, gap at 32 ?, runs ok, idles about 60 sec., then spits thru carb and dies. bulb begins to go limp, can manualy pump bulb, but appears to make no dif. has sat up for about 2 yrs, comp. test good. all this is running in test barrel only.

The primer bulb does not stay firm once the engine is started. Fuel is being drawn through it -- not forced through it. You said the carb is clean. Does that mean it was removed, soaked, all passages thoroughly cleaned and blown out with compressed air and reassembled with new kits? And does it also mean the carb is properly adjusted and a link & sync properly performed?
