250 carb motor "sneezes" at idle

1993 250 V6 carb motors. One motor will randomly puff back through the carbs, kind of like sneezing. It will usually recover, but ocassionally will stall out. Motor always restarts fine.

Usually, it will idle fine on the way out, and on the way back while in gear, but will somtimes start it's sneeze attach when I shift into neutral. Upping the idle about 1000 RPM in neutral usually supresses it.

Looking for suggestions of possible causes, and/or what to test for. Runs fine at speed, just annoying when it starts acting up and stall during docking.

It doesn't always do it, some days it will idle fine, the next day it may be back.

Thanks - Greg

Re: 250 carb motor "sneezes" at idle

Just went through this with my 150 yammie- a 1992. I reset the screws on the carbs (forget the name of them, sorry) and played with the timing at idle until it ran smooth.

I would check to make sure it has not come out of adjustment- mine apparently did and it runs great now.

I did some research and they call it a lean sneeze if that helps ya
