Had three great weekends with her(new to me) before putting putting her away til spring. Noticed the area around the mirror hatch in front of cabin was very damp from a wet anchor rope....had not used anchor for two weeks. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Make sure the drain hole for the locker is clear of debris.

Thanks for the reply Til! drain works great...its the many feet of wet rope that the windless piles in against the morror hatch that is the couse of the moisture. fabric in cabin around the mirror turns wet and stays that way far too long for my comfort everytime I use the anchor. I am thinking some type of vent or maybe even sealing the mirror hatch from cabin and waterproof behind in compartment(not somthing i want to do but always fear moisture)

Do you keep her on a trailer? Electricity available where you store her? I'd use a blow dryer if it was easy enough for me to run one for a few hours after each trip.

Remove the anchor rode till spring, and cover the complete boat with a tarp.

I have the rode, rope, anchor all at the house. The boat is winterized and shrinkwraped at the marina, I took the anchor home to "dry out". Cant imagine blow drying my boat for couple hours after couple hours on the "sand bar"....buddies sure get a kick out of it though:rolleyes: I love the access from the cabin but can not see how any boat with this option does not deal with the same issue from we rope.

Either seal it or dry it or both. Drying it keeps the line (rope portion of rode) from getting stinky.

What about a piece of plastic to line the locker?

Slip, funny, I think.
Never had that problem. My wet anchor line never leaked into my cabin. It also dried out in a day or two.

thats a good one Slip. I think I may try resealing the bottom and put a type of waterproof "flap" from above the mirror down on inside of anchor locker. This should let the drain still work and keep the wet rope from laying up against back of morror and getting fabric around it wet.

While all of the rode is out, reseal the locker with a couple of coats of bilge sealer. You may have a hairline crack in the locker that's letting the water get through. Also, remove and reseal the drain with 5200. The water may be getting in aroung a leaking drain fixture.
