Hi, just found the forum. Lots of good info. I've owned 3 Wellcrafts now and my current 04' 250 Fisherman CC has for the most part been a pretty good boat. However, just like my last boat, 02' 230 Fisherman (virtually the same boat, lonnnng story how I got the 250 just 2 yrs. later, 1st one was DEFECTIVE), the 250 has water issues bellow the deck. This boat is unique in that the center console is actually a mini cabin, it will sleep 2 and drops very deep into the hull. There are 3 large compartments inside which are supposed to be dry all the time, but manage to have water inside them after any trip or wash down is done. The water trickles in from screws inside the console and from the factory blow holes, used to blow in foam when building the boat. It was deemed that the 1st boat, 230 Fish, leaked water bettween the hull and liner (need to about how boats are built to understand how this is possible), from the 2 PLASTIC (real bad design) thru hull fiting that drain the large bow storage box in the deck. The fittings are not actually normal thru hull fittings, because they actually mate together in the middle (even worse design). When I recieved the new boat however, I had every plastic fitting removed and all new SS THRU HULL fittings put in. Problem solved, right? Wrong? That only took care of keeping water from filling the entire hull of the boat between the outer shell and the inner liner and some water from getting into the bilge area. Unfortunately, there is water comming in from some other place. I have torn things apart several times and sealed off every possible problem I could see, but there is still an issue and it is very frustrating. There was water comming in from the anchor locker, leaking hoses, areas that should have had 5200 sealant but didn't, and a lot of other things. I have talked to Wellcraft, 4 repair shops, 2 surveyors, and they have all seen the problem first hand (Wellcraft even flew someone out to CA. from FL. to look at it), but none of them even got as far as I did. I have also talked to 3 other owners with the same issues. They thought it was just part of owning a fishing boat. I told them no way, this could be potentialy dissaterous if not dealt with, at the least the plastic fittings that are only 1 or 2 inches above the water line, need to come out. If anyone out there has experienced this in there 230 or 250 Fish CC, please let me know if know how to fix it. And if you own one and don't think you have an issue, I promise you, you do. The problem is your screws in the CC were properly sealed and tightened so no water comes thru, but i'll bet if you take a few out, you will find the water and it is making your boat a lot heavier and dangerous. It's a hidden nightmare, waiting to happen. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy my boat and it is my pride and joy when I'm in it and I still think Wellcraft makes a good production boat, so I'm not bad mouthing them. Although, I do think they should have been able to find the problem and they did admit that they no about the issues and would eventually work them out, but the very next year the 252 fish came out and wouldn't you know it, the drain design up front is entirely new. Hope some one can help.
