Hi folks I just joined to hopefully find some help for a friends boat I’m working on. It’s a 2004 Johnson 25hp 4stroke with cooling problems.
Today I removed the lower unit to change the impeller, the wayer passages were completely clogged with sand/mud. The old impeller wasnt that bad but put new OEM in anyway. I backflushed through the t-stat housing and telltale port and got tons of crap to come out. Put it all back together except left the t-stat out and get barely any water out tell tale....the engine is getting hot fast, overheat alarm in about 1 min....
I feel like there are still water passages blocked up with crud. I’ve flushed back and forth and just can’t get enough cooling water.
Any tips tricks or other ways of flushing? Tia. Al
