My brother has just got a 25HP Suzuki 1995 model. He new it was blown up when he got but thinking he could fix it. We broke it apart today and the I have a stupid question. Is this motor rebuildable or a trash it once it blows kind of thing. The rods dont have caps. The crank appears to be a series of pressed on parts. Someone out there know the answer on how it can be done or if so., Thanks

What is damaged, reely? "Blown up" covers a lot of territory.

If you tore that engine down without a Manual you have probably bought yourselves a lot of misery.

I have no idea if it is rebuildable because I have no idea what is wrong with it.

Re: 25hp 95 Suzuki

JB The number one piston is scored with slight adhesion. The number two cylinder is burnt. Lots of scoring and adhesion. The piston skirt is broke to pieces and the connecting rod bearings are shot. Can’t see if the crank is any good because I cant get the rod off. The number one cylinder I think can be honed smooth. The number two cylinder is probably going to need to be bored. As far buying a manual, That will come as soon as he knows he can fix it. Why buy a 50 dollar manual just to tear it down. Then get it tore down and realize that that crank is bad or whatever and now you got a manual for 200lb boat anchor. If it looks like it can be rebuilt then we will buy a book to check cylinder specs before we start as well. Lets just say this isn’t our first rodeo, I am just wandering if anyone knows this motor well enough to tell me if you can get the rods off or do you trash the thing?

The crank is a pressed together assembly. Rods will only come off with disassembly.

ANYTHING is repairable.....including this motor. If it were mine I would decide maximum($) I wanted to put into it, price parts and decide from there.

For the most part the rods don't come off. There are folks out there that rebuild the cranks. If you decide to trash it......I will bring you a can to put it in and haul it off....where are you at? Seriously, if you give up on it let me know.

jleus, thanks for the info. I found a place here in NC where, I am at, that will repress the crank with new parts but I dont know if he is going to want to put that much in it. I will let ya know if he decides to scrap it. Keep an eye on this post and I will reply what he is going to do in the next day or so. Thanks again
