Year 2000,25hp commercial johnson
Looking at purchasing it;someone said it has a smaller gearcase and cheaper parts than the standard 25hp,is this true?
Other than the standard commpression, pumping water, general apperance, etc. checks are there any known problems with this motor?

Without me looking myself, if it does not have a hollow propeller hub, yes that is the old (read cheaper) gearcase.

Re: 25hp commercial

That is not the old style (cheaper) gearcase that I was thinking about. But I wouldn't be worrying about it. I have a '84 with similar gearcase and I haven't touched it in 24 years except to change the oil and impeller.
