my 25hp is jumping out of gear at high rpm. i have replaced alot of the shifting mechanism, the clutch dog is next. some have suggested i square up the edges on the dog. can i do the same on the gear, where the clutch dog engages, becuase that part looks about the same as the dog.there is a definate rounding of the edges on both parts. any suggestions will surely help getting my daughter and i out on the water asap. thanx

You now have 8 threads on the same topic. No need to start a new thread every time a question arises.

Well, I seen one on page 4 and one on page 6. Not many read past the first couple pages here. After the first couple pages, your threads get forgotten.

Sorry, I miscounted, only 4 threads.
Anyway, no problem. My point is the history and previous comments are lost when a new topic is started, and he'll probably be asked the same questions over again.

ok...so i'm not terribly proficiant at navigating the websight and following the "rules" to the letter, but i thought this was a sight where i might be able to get some feedback from poeple who have ALOT more knowledge than i do,and not a place where i would be critiqued on my mastry of the site.I understand u all want it streamlined but is it realy that big a deal. you replied but were so concerned about how many new threads i posted that you gave me exactly 0 pieces of advice. oh and the postings were all new questions and he's right, i dont think the average reader is going to read back all that far, and the whole reason i posted 2 new threads is bc i was unable to find my old postings every time i would post them and come back nd look for a reply(again not someone who spends a ton of time online). So in closing i would like to thank you for all of the excellent advice i have recieved as it will definatley help get my daughter nd i get out fishing real soon.
seriously, thanx to the poeple who replied with helpfull info

Well GoBlue, I'll do what I can to help here. I think the main cause for your motor jumping out of gear is a shift linkage adjustment. I can't recall what year you said your motor is, but isn't it the late 70's vintage? These I believe have the type of adjustment, where you screw your lower shift rod in a little bit to shorten it up, therefore making your shift fork engage your forward gear better. The 25's of 69 - 76 are a bit different. These, will have two clamping screws on the shift handle. 1977 25's are a different design, like I mentioned first.
