25hp Gamefisher need help with steering

On my 25hp Gamefisher it doesn't have tube for steering cable but has like flange coming off with hole in it and I hooked my steering cable up to it and when I turned it the cable bent so I bought a shorter one thinking that would fix it but it still does it. Do I need to buy a Transom Support Mount or is there away to keep the steering cable from bending when it is being extended?

Yes you need to buy the transome support mount it basically takes the place of the tube.
