Finally got back to this motor I was having troubles with a few weeks ago.

Motor would not turn off with the key switch, replaced the power pack under the flywheel and now it shuts off. It will not rev up though.

Called Sierra to have the pack replaced, ordered a new pack thinking the replacement I ordered originally was bad out of the box.

Pack number two showed up, installed it, the same symptoms occur, wont rev up, acts like its hitting a rev limitter or going into SLOW mode.

Put the original pack back on (that wont shut off with key switch), motor revs up as it should.

So.... two new packs, same symptoms. Having a hard time believing two packs in a row could be bad.

Sierra part number 18-5794

Thoughts?

Please post the year and model number of your motor, so we can better assist you. You may have posted the information before, but that is a different post and this forum plays host to hundreds and hundreds of different post a week.

It is like starting over.

UPDATE:

Two bad Sierra power packs, both new in the box.

Replaced the pack with CDI brand and it now runs like a new one. Would have never thought I would get two new bad packs in a row.

Thanks!

thanks for posting back with the results..those UFI ignitions are hard enough to straighten out w/o having to deal with a bad pp right out of the box
