25hp johnson vin plate location

i just pick up a 25 hp johnson the old owner painted motor i dont know year or model could somebody tell me where the vin tag should be thanks

Should be on the transom clamp. Either on the top of the clamp or on the side.<br />There's also a silver disc set into the top or side of the engine block that may have a model number scribed into it. Usually there's just a serial number on it though.<br />Tell us what you find!

thanks paul i found ser number on silver disc ser j25rcdce6183306 i also found another circle of numbers transom they are 328676 and beside them is an D1 stamped. do you know what they are or where to find year if not thanks for all your help mitch
