Have 1978 25hp johnson. After trying to do a lynch and sync, the motor will only idle now with a full choke. I will idle just fine with full choke but as soon as you push it in the motor starts sneeze pretty hard and then will cut off. At full throttle can run with choke off but not at idle. i have the low speed idle set at 1 1/4 turns. Could it have something to do with the idle screw on the side of motor? I have turned all different ways and was wondering where it should be set.

More likely you didn't get the the link and sync correct. If the carb is starting to open too soon, it will sneeze and quit. Also, the most obvious is the slow speed needle may simply be set too lean. Give it a tweak toward rich and see what happens. The 1 1/2 turns open is only a beginning point...adjust from there.
