25hp Mercury 2 Stroke 1999 Good Manual?

I just bought a friends 1999 Sun Tracker 18. Good shape with the all aluminum deck. The engine run great but sometimes it does not get spark. After messing with it for a little bit it gets spark and then runs. What would be a good manual for this engine? As for the spark I might start with the ignition. Thanks

Hi and welcome to iBoats.<br /><br />I usually stick to the manufacturers manuals. They built the engine, they should know how it's to be fixed.<br /><br />A common problem on those engines is the stop switch in the end of the tiller handle. It's not really all that water proof and they get water in them and short out. Try disconnecting it from the rest of the system and see how you go. You only need to unplug the black/yellow that comes from the switch. You can still use the cowl mounted stop switch.<br /><br />Chris.........
