What are your rpm's at wide open throttle with the 25" pitch prop?

also is my motor at the right height?

It appears it could go higher. If you have no venting problems now raise it to a point just before venting becomes a problem.Could help top speed and maybe hole shot a little.

Why the whale tail ?
It appears the jack plate is cranked all the way down, is it ?

Re: 25p

This is the first jack plated boat I have owned and on my 21ft Laguna CC the whale tail helped the 150hp Black Max get up on plane at lower speeds. So I figured it might help on this one

I would do all of my testing/tuning without the whale tail, you may find you don't need it. At those speeds, at WOT, I would have concerns about stability issues.
If you feel the need for more low speed planing control, I would check into Smart Tabs.

You have never identified the prop you are running now, nor have you posted your WOT RPM's. With out this information, any recommendations are just a Wild ***** Guess.

What is the distance from the end of the pad (the lowest part of the hull) to the joint between the LU and Prop ? This will help in suggesting an initial height setting for your jack plate.

Be safe.

The prop is a tempest 48-825866 a45 25p
From the transom to the Lower unit is 19"
The lower unit gear housing(rounded part of foot) is Just below the lowest part of the boat
I have no intention of ever running the boat that fast, the guy I got it from was a speed freak, so he wanted the speed...I would be happy at 50-55mph tops and a better hole shot to get skiers or tubers going.Rpm's 5300 and that was fast enough for me...still had throttle left

Re: 25p

If you are primarily using your boat for water sports/toys by all means prop down to a lower pitch.

Be aware that you may be able to exceed the recommended max RPM for your motor. Advise any one else that drives your boat of that condition.

A 21" pitch should give you an excellent hole shot and around 55 mph @ 5300 with approx. 10% slip.

A 23" pitch should give you a good hole shot and around 59 mph @ 5300 with approx. 10% slip.

What you do with your own boat is entirely up to you.
