I got a boat and this motor from my dad. I know he owned it for 8 years and ran it once or twice in the beginning. The guy before him, we knew, and he bought it new. I pulled the cover off the motor and it was full of a mouse nest mostly comprised of lifejacket stuffing. After cleaning it all out, I inspected everything and determined that the mouse chewed the insulation off of one plug wire. Can the plug wire only be replaced or do you also have to replace additional items? Looking at parts breakdown, the plug wires are no longer available so I assume you build wires from bulk , or that they are not replaceable alone. Thank you for any insight.

Of course you can replace the wires. You have to remove the flywheel and magneto to access the clamps on the bottom of the mag plate. Use "wire" wire with metal strands inside, not the carbon string wire used on nearly all cars nowadays. Real wire can be found at a lot of places including some auto parts stores, tractor supply stores. lawn mower shops, boat repair places, etc.
